Also as I write this I am preparing to embark on a yearly ritual of mine, one that I have been doing every year since I was a sophomore in High School. This ritual I speak of is my yearly attempt at trying to play the guitar.
My mom would know best since she got my first one (electric) back when I was still in high school, and for awhile after that things seemed to be looking up. I played with my best friend Corey for awhile and was even able to learn AC/DC's "Back in Black" (not the full chorus) and even start on Metallica's "Master of Puppets." For some reason though I stopped, and for some reason every year since I have started and stopped annually and without change, mainly blaming the size of my fingers, which I do not consider to be anything special, but in actuality it is probably because the guitar just loves kicking my ass.
I'm the type of person who likes to be able to do things and be at least mediocrely good at them after only a few tries (with the exception of beerpong, which for most of my freshman year in college was quite the source of laughter for my friends). Guitar has always been one that has taken me awhile though, and still does. I figured I'd actually blog about it this time in the hopes that it makes me that much more determined to learn this enigma in front of me that is my guitar, which is acoustic this time by the way, which my mom also bought during what I would call my more "emo" days haha.
Anyways I think I like the acoustic more at this point and even if I didn't it wouldn't matter because it is the only one I have here at my place in Arizona. All in all I'd love to have the added skill of guitar playing under my belt. I'd love to be able to chill somewhere with a beer and just start playing things like any Jack Johnson song or the uncontested summer hit of '08 and maybe even '09 for some, Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours," Which coincidentally I CAN play on Ukelele, so I've got a start. I'm pretty much a fan of all the songs you love to hear when you're hanging with friends, be it drunk or sober, whichever you prefer.
If I can keep the flame going I will keep you all updated on my progress. As of right now Burry is trying to get me to learn "Fishin' In the Dark" so we can play it at the same time, we'll see how it turns out, cross your fingers maybe I'll even get a video of that on here at some point for all of you to have a nice chuckle at.
